AW23 Look - No.12

Look 12, our final look of the season and the year. We hope you have enjoyed the looks and thank you so much for your reading, your inquiries and your kind words! Without further ado here is Look 12, our most casual of the Autumn/Winter bunch and by far our most contemporary. Showing how a somewhat loud ‘out there’ patterned jacket can be quietened down by using navy.

SHOP THE LOOK

The jacket is from our friends at Portuguese Flannel. We adore this brand, a family business spanning over four generations. All the products are made in the factories they own in Portugal, of course. The shape is short in the body, it features 2 chest pockets, the fabric is a wool/poly blend and it is fully lined. I must admit, at first, I wasn’t too sure, but it’s massively grown on me since landing in the shop, especially as Ed looks so delicious in it. The colours are an unusual combination of green, navy and camel which can look pink in some shades where it blends into the navy.

The PF jacket is great to keep you warm until it gets to around 8 or 9 degrees then you will need an extra layer to keep you at Taion. Oh sorry did I say Taion, I meant body temperature, as that’s what Taion means in Japanese. The V-neck gilet from Taion is an ideal weight for layering. Their products are all made to keep you warm whether it’s an outer or middle layer. This gilet is duck down and duck feather filled, equally distributed around with the sewn-in gridding. Taion also do a round-neck version however we find the V-neck is a bit smarter so it works well with tailoring as well as a contemporary look like this.

The T-shirt and drawstring trousers are from Danish essentials label
Colorful Standard. Originally just a Tees and sweats brand, CS now has an array of styles including this organic twill cotton drawstring pant. The fit is a full, straight leg and is long enough to pop a roll on as Ed has here. They are called the four-season trousers but they are slightly too thin for Winter but just about work in Autumn. We do these in a few colours and will be introducing even more next year.

Our shoes featured are the carflex from Italian crepe shoe specialists
Astorflex. A wide-fitting round-toed casual derby, that still tends to dress up relaxed outfits like this. Brown suede is my go-to make-up for a shoe, I feel it’s the easiest to pair with a multitude of fabrics, like denim and flannel. At the same time, smooth leather with no grain can be a bit of a mismatch with dark denim. The sole unit is made from springy crepe, and the footbed is made of memory foam, after one day of wear they start to feel like a pair of trainers.
