The Khaki Kovak Quilted Jacket from Far Afield is a lightweight quilted jacket informed by military liners and made for changing weather. Its smooth polyester shell is stitched in broad five-inch squares around a slim layer of synthetic insulation, spreading warmth evenly across the body without the bulk of a padded or puffer jacket.
It's built for the in-between months: crisp autumn mornings, mild winter days and cool spring evenings, when a heavy coat is too much but a shirt or knit alone isn't enough. In the depths of winter it works just as well as a warm mid-layer under an overcoat or parka. It is designed as a lightweight insulating layer rather than a technical waterproof, so on properly wet days wear it under a weatherproof shell.
The straight cut leaves room for a light layer underneath, such as a T-shirt, shirt or fine-gauge knit, while staying neat and flat beneath a heavier coat. A soft collar sits comfortably at the neck, and the YKK metal snap front makes it quick to open and close.
The details give it the finish of proper everyday outerwear. A snap-fastened flap chest pocket keeps small essentials secure, and two angled welt hand pockets sit at a natural angle for your hands. Inside, it's fully lined: cotton through the body for a breathable, comfortable feel against a shirt or tee, and smooth viscose through the sleeves so it slides on easily over knitwear. Far Afield's signature orange touches finish it off, with an orange cotton locker loop at the back neck and an orange bar-tack at the side seam.
Khaki is the classic military-liner colour and one of the easiest neutrals to wear. It pairs with blue denim, navy, grey and ecru, sits naturally over a white or grey tee, a chunky knit or an Oxford shirt, and works with chinos, cords or jeans and either boots or trainers.
Far Afield is a British-designed menswear label and a real champion of ethical, small-scale production, always putting the planet before profit. The Kovak is designed in the UK and made in India.

International orders will be shipped DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) and may incur duties, fees and import taxes upon delivery. By placing an order with The Local Merchants, you acknowledge that you understand this and that you are responsible for any such charges. This charge is ultimately determined by your local customs authority. Payment of these is necessary to release your order from customs. For more information, please consult your local customs office.
Australian Customers: no import tax or duties are payable for orders under AUD 1,000 (including shipping). Please get in touch with us if you would like to order in excess of this amount.
Refusal of Delivery for EU & R.O.W:
If a customer refuses to pay any of these, the delivery will be returned to us, and the cost of the return shipping will be deducted from the final refund amount. This will be charged at our standard shipping rate applicable to the original destination country. The original shipping cost for the parcel to be sent to the EU/ROW will not be refunded in the case of a refused parcel.

Online refund policy: Purchases made online are governed by UK Distance Selling Regulations, and the returns process differs from in-store purchases.

The cost and responsibility of returning the item are yours. We recommend using a trackable, insured service, as we cannot accept liability for lost or damaged parcels. Original shipping costs are non-refundable. If returning from overseas, please mark the parcel ‘RETURNED GOODS’ to avoid customs charges. Any taxes or duties incurred are the customer’s responsibility. You have 14 days from receipt to return your item for a full refund.
If we’ve made an error with your order, please contact us immediately and we’ll resolve it as quickly as possible.
Items must be received in the same condition they were sent — unworn, with all original labels and packaging intact.
Garments showing any marks, scent, or signs of wear may be subject to a cleaning fee, which will be deducted from your refund.
Exchanges
If you’d like to exchange an item, you can submit a request via your account, or return it with the completed returns form enclosed.

IN-STORE RETURNS
Refunds: Should you need to return anything purchased at The Local Merchants store, please bring your receipt and unworn items back for a refund based on the original payment method. Restrictions apply.
Please bring your receipt and the item in its original condition, back within 28 days for a refund via your original form of payment or gift card.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to process exchanges for non-UK customers.
Exchanges: Any items purchased at The Local Merchants store can be exchanged. You can exchange your purchase for another item or gift card at The Local Merchants store that accepts the same currency as the original purchase.
Items purchased in The Local Merchants store or thelocalmerchants.co.uk can be exchanged in-store within 28 days.
Please note that we monitor the number of returns made by customers, and continued returns will be flagged and potentially refused at our discretion or led to the closure of your The Local Merchants account. Your statutory rights are not affected.
