WEDDING EVENT MTM COMPETITION - NOV 2025
1. WEDDING EVENT MTM COMPETITION
The competition is run by The Local Merchants, 114 Leigh Road, Leigh‑on‑Sea, Essex, SS9 1BU.
2. How to Enter if I need it?
To enter, participants must sign up via: the form on thelocalmerchants.co.uk, or the QR code available on the day at the Premier Racecourse Expo – 1 Day Wedding Show, Chelmsford City Racecourse, on 23rd November 2025.
Entry is free and limited to one per person.
3. Eligibility
Open to UK residents aged 18 or over. Employees of The Local Merchants or anyone connected professionally with the event are not eligible.
4. Competition Prize
i. One winner will receive a Made-to-Measure suit valued up to £1000. ii. If the chosen suit exceeds £1000 in value, the winner may pay the difference. ii. No cash alternative. Prize is non-transferable.
5. Non-Winner Offer
i. All other entrants will receive a free Alessandro Gherardi shirt (RRP £195) with their first Made-to-Measure wedding suit purchase. ii. If unavailable, a suitable alternative of equal value will be provided. iii. Offer valid for one shirt per customer, per qualifying purchase.
6. Winner Selection
i. One entrant will be chosen at random after the event and notified by email. ii. A minimum of 250 valid entries is required for the prize draw to take place. iii. If fewer than 250 entries are received, the draw may be cancelled at the discretion of The Local Merchants. iiii. If no response is received within 14 days, another winner may be selected.
7. Use of Personal Data
i. By entering, you agree to receive email marketing from The Local Merchants. ii. You may unsubscribe at any time. iii. Your data will be used solely to manage the competition and marketing communications, in line with our Privacy Policy
8. General
The Local Merchants reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw this competition at any time if required.
MADE TO ORDER
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions govern the Made to Order service for Suede Lined Valstarino Jackets (“the Service”) offered by The Local Merchants. By placing a Made to Order purchase, you agree to the following terms.
2. Order Process & Confirmation
(2.1)Made to Order jackets are crafted upon request and require full payment at the time of purchase.
(2.2) Once an order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation via email.
(2.3) Please review your order details carefully before submitting, as changes cannot be made after confirmation.
3. Production & Delivery Timeframe
(3.1) Each Made to Order jacket is individually crafted by Valstar and takes approximately four (4) weeks to be produced and dispatched.
(3.2) Delivery times may vary depending on your location and any unforeseen production delays. The Local Merchants is not responsible for delays caused by external factors, such as customs or courier issues.
(3.3) You will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking details once your jacket has been dispatched.
4. Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations
(4.1) As each jacket is custom-made, all Made to Order purchases are final and cannot be returned or exchanged, except in cases of manufacturing defects.
(4.2) Cancellations are not permitted once an order has been placed.
(4.3) If your item arrives with a defect, you must notify us within 7 days of receiving your order. We will assess the issue and arrange for repair or replacement if deemed necessary.
5. Sizing & Fit Responsibility
(5.1) Customers are responsible for selecting the correct size at the time of ordering. We recommend referring to the Valstar sizing guide or contacting us for advice before making a purchase.
(5.2). The Local Merchants is not liable for sizing issues due to incorrect customer selection.
6. Payment & Pricing
(6.1) Full payment is required at checkout to confirm your order.
(6.2) Prices include VAT (where applicable) but exclude shipping fees, which are calculated at checkout.
(6.3) The Local Merchants reserves the right to adjust pricing without prior notice, but changes will not affect orders already placed.
7. Warranty & Quality Assurance
(7.1) Valstar is known for its exceptional craftsmanship, and each jacket undergoes strict quality control before dispatch.
(7.2) If you experience any issues with your jacket, please contact us, and we will assist where possible within a reasonable timeframe.
8. Amendments to These Terms
(8.1) The Local Merchants reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will apply to orders placed after the updated terms are published.

1. ONLINE STORE TERMS
You must be of legal age or have parental consent to use our site. You agree not to use our products or services for unlawful purposes or violate any laws. Breaches may result in service termination.

We reserve the right to refuse service at any time. Your content (excluding credit card details) may be transferred unencrypted. Reproduction or resale of our services is prohibited without written permission.

MADE TO MEASURE
1. GENERAL DISCLAIMER
The Local Merchants fulfil orders in line with the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002.
2. USE OF PRODUCTS
Our garments are for personal use only. We are not liable for losses from commercial use.
3. LEGAL JURISDICTION
Contracts are governed by English law under the jurisdiction of English courts.
4. PAYMENT
A non refundable 50% deposit will be taken upon the date of the order. No order will be put into manufacturing until the non refundable 50% deposit is made. The remaining balance will be taken, once the item(s) have been received in-store at The Local Merchants Ltd.
5. Quality
(5.1) Due to the uniqueness of every garment, it is not possible to guarantee that the finished item(s), especially those with distressed finishes, will have exactly the same colour, pattern, weave and finish as the item viewed either in store or online.
(5.2) If the customer is not satisfied with the quality or fit of the ordered item(s). The Local Merchants Ltd will, after inspection of the goods, follow a policy of repair or replace and finally refund.
(5.3) The Local Merchants Ltd warrants that the garment description will correspond with the description indicated and agreed in store.
(5.4) Use of the The Local Merchants Ltd website implies that all terms and conditions concerning orders, as outlined here have been accepted and agreed to.
(5.5) A tolerance of 2cm shall be applied to the pattern measurements that relate to the manual measurements.
(5.6) The Local Merchants Ltd will alter garments with no charge if any of the pattern measurements that relate to the manual measurements is incorrect by more than 2cm.
6. Defects
(6.1) In the unlikely event that a manufacturing error has occurred, The Local Merchants Ltd will follow our repair, replace or refund policy as outlined.
(6.2) We will require you to return the garment to us for inspection.
(6.3) The Local Merchants Ltd are not liable for defects resulting from a customer not following our care instructions.
7. Customer cloth
(7.1) All customers choosing to use their own fabric for their garments made by The Local Merchants are obliged to, on demand and where necessary provide additional fabric if needed.
(7.2) The Local Merchants Ltd has sole discretion on whether the cloth is deemed faulty or not.
8. Weight Gain/Loss
(8.1) The Local Merchants Ltd manufactures each garment according to measurements taken by the body scanner and measurements taken manually during the appointment.
(8.2) The Local Merchants Ltd shall not be held liable for any size variations due to weight gain or loss.
9. Order cancellation
(9.1) The customer must check with their tailor and confirm all the details are correct at the time of purchase.
(9.2) It is understood that an order once finalised and confirmed, cannot be cancelled upon the commencement of the manufacturing process. In the circumstance where the order consists of multiple garments, the start of the manufacturing process commences with the first garment.
(9.3) Any agreement to cancel is at the discretion of The Local Merchants Ltd.
(9.4) Upon commencement of the manufacturing process no changes to fit, design option or fabric can be made to an order.
(9.5) The Local Merchants Ltd cannot accept returns on the basis of a change of heart on the part of a customer.
(9.6) The Local Merchants Ltd cannot accept returns where the customer requests a change to an existing order and The Local Merchants Ltd cannot fulfil that change.
10. Returns and Refund
(10.1) As the ordered goods are custom-made, they can neither be returned nor refunded, and the standard 28 day refund policy does not apply. This does not affect your statutory rights and does not apply to faulty goods.
(10.2) Requests for returns or refunds must initially be supported by proof of purchase.
(10.3) In the case of refund, the client will be eligible for a full refund less the cost of any shipping costs previously incurred as these are considered complete at that point. The Local Merchants Ltd retains full discretion on whether a product is deemed faulty or not.
(10.4) Orders will only be refunded by the original method of payment.
11. Deliveries
(11.1) All orders must be paid in full prior to delivery.
(11.2) It is understood that the turnaround and dispatch of orders may vary depending on fabric availability. All indicated turnaround times are estimated and The Local Merchants Ltd will endeavour to meet as close as possible the average turnaround time of between 4 and 6 weeks.
(11.3) The Local Merchants Ltd will not be responsible for delays resulting from situations within the customer control, such as the recipient not being available for fitting, to accept delivery, incorrect delivery details being supplied or The Local Merchants Ltd awaiting full payment.
